Person Specification

Essential: Ability to provide practical and emotional support to service users in a manner that promotes their dignity, independence and recovery. Have an understanding of the needs of people with Mental Health needs and its effects. Have a good understanding and working knowledge of Diversity and Equality. Good verbal & written communication skills. Good I.T. skills, including word, databases and e-mails. Solution focused and outcome driven. Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities on time. Ability to work as part of a rota and at weekends.

To build trusting therapeutic relationships and to provide Recovery focussed and person centred support to enable people with mental health needs to live as independently as possible in the community. To help create an empowering environment that promotes the service user’s self-esteem and enables them to express choice and preference and to make decisions about their lives. To support service users to manage their own finances liaising with the Department of Work and Pensions, Job Centre Plus and local support agencies to maximise their income and to maintain a good quality of life. To support service users to manage their own accommodation and to maintain the safety, hygiene and comfort of their homes. To support service users to participate in their local communities to engage with sources of formal and informal support and to enjoy the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
