My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. We pride ourselves on being a unique service. We offer personalised support to a diverse range of individuals at our Standish and Leigh sites and individuals living in their own homes. Each person has their own dedicated team, delivering support that is tailored specifically to their needs and preferences. This isn’t a one size fits all approach, it's about what makes sense for them and making a difference.
About the Role
My Life is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Support Workers to join our friendly team at our day provision service, Life Opportunities. This is a flexible role, where you can offer your availability and work on an ‘as and when needed’ basis, supporting individuals to access a wide range of engaging and meaningful activities and sessions.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Support Worker Based within a unique farm environment, you will be expected to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You will be supporting individuals with a wide range of needs, including those who may require personal care, behavioural support or communication assistance to take part in a variety of sessions designed to promote independence, creativity, wellbeing and life skills. These include (but are not limited to):
• Art and creative activities
• Fashion and textiles
• Animal care
• Horticulture and gardening
• Conservation tasks
• Cooking and life skills
• Dance and movement
• Yoga and wellbeing sessions
You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where individuals feel empowered to participate, learn new skills and enjoy their day.
Key Responsibilities
• Support individuals in group and one to one activities
• Encourage participation and build confidence
• Assist with personal care where required
• Work collaboratively with the wider team
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all individuals
• Maintain accurate records where necessary
About You
• Caring, patient and positive attitude
• Flexible and reliable, with good availability
• Passionate about supporting others to achieve their potential
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Experience in care/support work is desirable but not essential (full training provided)
