About us
My Life is a highly respected charity, and we are currently seeking a Specialist Support Worker to join our growing team of Community based staff in Chorley.

My Life was established in 2012 as a result of a group of people with disabilities and their families wanting something different to traditional types of health/social care services and wanting more choice and control over their own lives. My Life currently provides care and support to a growing number of individuals who have complex health and social care needs across the North West of England. Our staff are integral to the success of the charity as they are the ones making a real difference to people’s lives.

Your Responsibilities
You will be supporting a very sociable 26-year-old male with a learning disability who requires 2:1 support during the day and 1:1 support overnight. He lives in his own home and the role will include enabling him to maintain his active social life whilst adhering to an established routine of activities. This young man enjoys watching his favourite TV programmes, going to do his personal shopping, listening to music and attending concerts. As part of the My Life team, you will ensure that care is provided in a way that respects this young man and promotes his independence.

What you’ll need to Succeed
In order to succeed, you will ideally have experience with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and experience working with individuals with complex behavioural difficulties will also be highly advantageous. You will be a strong character, resilient, robust and really interested in supporting this individual in a way that makes him feel safe and fully secure. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have the ability to use your own initiative whilst being caring and sensitive to the needs of others. Ideally, you will have supported people with autism and/or a learning disability. You will hold a full driving licence.

The salary on offer is up to £15.90 per hour (dependent upon experience) plus a competitive benefits package.
