Job Description

Senior Specialist Support Workers will be the first line manager for the staff team and should take a leading role providing support to staff and the individuals we support. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge (or be willing to learn) how to positively support individuals with a variety of support needs and wants and be proactive when providing the support. Support needs may include mental health conditions and complex behaviours, learning disabilities/difficulty because of substance misuse, acquired brain injury, autistic spectrum disorders, neurological impairment, psychiatric and other needs. The level of support will vary according to the agreed level of support required. You will assist people to live as tenants and citizens in the local community; provide personalised support in line with the individual’s person-centred plan and their rights, choices and responsibilities. This post will cover one service in East Lancashire. All individuals have their own residence which are based on one site, and we provide support services 24 hours a day with varying supporting hours in place for each individual.

Senior specialist support workers will provide guidance, mentoring/coaching and supervision to the specialist support workers as directed by the service manager.

Facilitate and participate in Team meetings and MDT meetings.

Develop relationships with families and professionals.

Devise, review and implement personalised support plans, risk management plans and PBS plans.

The role involves working over 7 days, including evening and alternate weekends on a two-week rolling rota basis and sleep in duties as needed.

Cover shifts in emergencies or to fulfil commissioned hours.

Be part of an on-call rota.
