Open to primary schools in the UK, this event is aimed children in Reception and Year 1.

In celebration of World Radiography Day 2022 primary schools across the UK are invited to take part in an exciting online event for Reception and Year 1 pupils to learn about the role of a diagnostic radiographer in a fun, engaging and age-appropriate way.  The event is hosted by the Society of Radiographers in collaboration with the Schools Team for NHS and Social Care Careers at South Yorkshire Integrated Care System and will compliment your existing careers learning activities.

Does your average primary schooler know who takes an x-ray? Is it a doctor? Is it a nurse? No, it’s a Radiographer.

Join us for a fun, engaging and age-appropriate event designed to spark interest and contribute to raising aspirations towards an exciting career opportunity that children might otherwise not be aware of. Find out how a radiographer can use different equipment to look inside a patient’s body to see if they are hurt or poorly. See how babies can hiccup or suck their thumb before they are even born.

During the live-stream event children will:

  • Meet a jobholder
  • Learn about X-ray and Ultrasound
  • Have the opportunity to raise questions to the presenter
  • Sing, dance and have fun

The event is hosted by the Society of Radiographers in collaboration with the Schools Team for NHS and Social Care Careers at South Yorkshire Integrated Care System.

As a memento all schools booking onto the event will receive a complimentary copy of the children’s book “Isaac Visits the Diagnostic Radiographers”.
