Care Leavers Covenant Opportunities

The Careers & Engagement Team within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Health and Care
Partnership, work collaboratively on offering a myriad of opportunities to those seeking a career
within the Health and Social Care sector. We do this by offering a range of opportunities, such as:
Employability Programmes, Work Experience, Step into Work schemes, Industry Based Placements for
Further Education, Summer Schools, Workshops, Mock Interviews, Mentoring Circles and much more.

In order to ensure that our offers reach as many people as possible, we work with all of the
following stakeholders within our footprint: Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Further Education
Colleges, Universities, Job Centres, Employability Support Organisations such as Prince’s Trust and
Inspira, Social Care Providers, Primary Care Networks, Voluntary Organisations and of course,
colleagues within the Hospital Trusts. We have built up years of contacts and have excellent working
relationships, which enables us to provide a wide range of experiences.
The aims of the programmes we deliver are multi-faceted.

Work Experience opportunities provide an enormously valuable insight into working within the sector and we strive to support as many of these
as possible. We would encourage those seeking Work Experience to consider areas that they may
not have previously thought about, as this can broaden their options in the future.

Our Work Experience opportunities can be face-to-face or virtual and we accept applications through our website, under our Placements section.

In respect of Employability Programmes and Step into Work, our desire is to ensure people are ‘work
ready’ and ultimately move from such programmes directly into employment. We do this by providing
tailored support for job applications, interview techniques, resilience training, values-based learning
and in some cases, by offering a working interview. Mock Interviews, Workshops, Mentoring Circles
and other information sharing sessions are aimed at providing the relevant information around
careers in Health and Social Care and guiding individuals as to how to increase their chances of
pursuing a career in this sector.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion lie at the heart of what we do and we want to ensure that the
programmes and opportunities we provide are accessible to all. If you feel discriminated against in
terms of our offer, please do make us aware and we will endeavour to make changes to
accommodate your needs.

To find out more about our offer, please download our booklet below and contact us should you have any questions or queries.
